The Gurung community marked ‘Tamu Lhosar’ on Sunday as they welcomed their New Year.
Members of the Gurung community organised feasts and cultural programmes at Tundikhel in Kathmandu, on Paush 15 of the Nepali calendar, to celebrate the day.
Tamu Lhosar is associated with the rays of sun. The festival is marked as sunrays greet Gurung settlements in Lamjung, Gorkha, Tanahu, Syangja, Manang, Kaski
and Parbat of the Gandaki Province. Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun extended his best wishes to the Gurung community on the occasion saying that such festivals
help maintain social unity, goodwill and religious tolerance. Pun wished for the happiness, peace and prosperity of all Tamus at home and abroad. (PR)
