Australia’s opposition Labour Party leader has extended greetings on the occasion of Nepali festival Bada Dashain.
The Party’s federal parliamentary leader Bill Shorten extended the best wishes to all Nepalis saying Bada Dashain is the biggest festival of Nepali people.
With increasing Nepali population in Australia, Australian prime minister and opposition party leaders have been giving importance to the Nepali festivals.
Issuing a statement on Friday, Shorten has said that Dashain is a very important festival to Nepalis and he hoped that the festival brought together family members and friends.
“I pray that Dashain brings peace, prosperity and good health to the celebrants,” said Shorten in the statement.
Along with the Shorten, the party leader Michelle Rolend also expressed her good wishes on the occasion of Dashain.
Meanwhile, a programme has been organised in Parliament building in South Australia to celebrate the Dashain. Parliamentary Committee Chairman Russel Wortley has sent invitations to Nepalis asking them to join the programme and receive tika.
