In this day and age, Nepalis are scattered all across the globe. We Nepalis are different from rest of the world, but some things in us are always the same.

So how to spot a Nepali anywhere in the world? Let’s find out!

1)  East or West. Momos are the Best!

No matter how hot the weather, no Nepali will ever say no to tato-tato (hot) momos!  Be it the bustling city of New York or a food market in Thailand, you are guaranteed to meet a bunch of Nepalis bonding over dumplings and its mouth watering sauce!

2)  We have strange Obsessive Compulsive Disorders!

Have you found yourself blowing at your fingers as soon as you touch your neck for no apparent reason? Yes, Nepalis do that. Or whenever we pass through a shrine—big or small— nobody forgets the little gesture of prayer by touching their forehead and chest.

Every Nepali is OCD!

3) Nepalis are fashionably late

No matter how hard we try, we just can’t make it on time. You see, the traffic is always the villain.

4) The biggest superstar of the country- Rajesh Hamal!

America has Chuck Norris. India’s got Rajnikant. And we have our Rajesh Dai. If you spot a Facebook user sharing pictures and memes of an ultra good-looking man with enviable hair, the man is Rajesh Hamal and the user is his fan, just like every Nepali. We are proud of him!

5) Every  Nepali is a fact checker when it comes to Gautam Buddha

In a room, declare that Gautam Buddha was not born in Nepal and watch people’s expression change!  We Nepalis take pride in being from the land of Lord Buddha and the country with Mount Everest.
