Two held with musk pod
Police on Sunday made public two persons arrested for possession of a musk pod from Sundhara in the Capital.A police team from Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku, apprehended the duo with 29.7 gram of pod while they were trying to sell it.
Both of the arrestees have been handed over to the Kathmandu District Forest Office and will be booked under the Wildlife Conservation Act, police said in a statement today. The duo will face a maximum sentence of 15 years or a fine up to Rs 100,000 or both, if convicted.
The musk, obtained from a gland of the male musk deer, is used in beauty products and for the treatment of some ailments.
Similarly, another team from the Police Crime Division arrested two persons with over seven kg of opium from Sundhara. Police arrested Bishal Gurung, 20, of Dailekh and Manju Tamang, 29, of Surkhet. The duo was caught while approaching various people to buy the contraband drug.
