Nepal, China sign MoU on media cooperation
Minister for Information & Communications Minendra Rijal has expressed hope that a MoU on media exchanges and cooperation signed with China during his recent visit would greatly help Nepali.Briefing the media about the week-long visit to China on Monday, Rijal said the framework agreement will help both sides in the field of information and news sharing, exchange programmes of media professionals and other related cooperation.
The minister-led Nepali delegation had returned home on Sunday.
The MoU was signed by Minister Rijal on behalf the Government of Nepal and Minister for State Council, Information Office of China Cai Mingzhao on behalf the Chinese government, with the objective of promoting mutual cooperation in the IT sector and collaborating on matters related to the media.
Rijal believed that the pact would contribute in enhancing overall standard of the Nepali media sector through exchanges of information, study tours of journalists and government representatives of the two countries.
Joint Secretary at the ministry Kabiraj Khanal, also a member of the Nepali delegation to China, said that the MoU signing would allow Departments of Information of the two countries to hold regular exchange visits and share experiences.
As per the MoU, the major areas of cooperation include exchange of information, sharing of experience and views on policy and regulation; intensifying exchange of visits and communication between the departments of information of the two countries; share experience and cooperation in the field of the Internet.
The Rijal-led Nepali delegation also visited Research and Development section of Huawei and ZTE and took stock of the latest technologies that the global IT companies are developing for the coming generation.
