Country's economic growth rate to be 5.15 %, CBS forecasts
The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has forecasted the economic growth rate of 5.15 per cent in the current fiscal year (2070/071 BS).The CBS has said that the contribution of agriculture and forestry sector in gross domestic products (GDP) stands at 32.61— the highest portion of sectoral contribution in the GDP.
At a news conference here in the Capital on Monday, the CBS said that contribution of primary sectors (agriculture and forestry, fishery and mining and extractions) in the current fiscal year is expected to rise by 4.71 per cent, compared to the last fiscal year.
Director General at the CBS Bikash Bista said that contribution of secondary sectors (construction, industries and electricity, gas and water) in the current fiscal year is projected to go up by 2.69 per cent compared to the previous year.
Likewise, the growth in service sector is projected to be 6.13 per cent against the last fiscal year.
The agricultural sector's growth would be 4.72 per cent while growth of non-agricultural sector would reach as high as 5.34 per cent, according to the CBS preliminary projection.
The CBS said that total consumption in the current fiscal year is estimated to be 91.08 per cent of the total GDP which is slightly more than Rs. 1756 billion.
Likewise, the country's trade deficit would reach Rs. 543.02 billion in the ongoing fiscal year.
Furthermore, the per capita income would reach Rs. 71,305 (equivalent to 717 US dollars) in the 2070/071 fiscal year, just four US dollars more than the last fiscal year which was 713 US dollars.
