Responding to reporters after the Legislature Parliament-cum-Constituent Assembly (CA) elected Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala as the new Prime Minister, Chairman Regmi requested the journalists to wait for a few days for him to make the decision.

"You will know in a day or two," said Regmi, who is also the sitting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, "Please wait until then."

Chairman Regmi's possible return to the court following the election of new PM has created new debate amongst the legal circle with many arguing that Regmi should not return as CJ.

Nepal Bar Association, an umbrella organisation of legal practitioners, has already warned of strictly opposing if Regmi makes a return to SC.

Regmi's press advisor Bimal Gautam issued a press statement today, mentioning that the decision would be in favour of the nation.

The statement reads that Regmi is serious about the possible repurcussions of his return to the Judiciary and the principle of the separation of powers, adding that he would take decision in favour of the nation.

Regmi congratulated  NC President Koirala on his election as the new PM. He said he has felt proud for being able to hand over the power to a candidate elected by the people.
