Two arrested on fraud charges
Both allegedly lured victims with attractive job offers in the UK and Dubai.Post Report
Police arrested two individuals on Wednesday for allegedly defrauding victims by promising lucrative jobs in the UK and Dubai.
The accused have been identified as a 23-year-old woman from Bandipur Rural Municipality-2 and a 50-year-old man from Bhimad Municipality-1 in Tanahun.
According to the police, the woman allegedly defrauded two victims of Rs6.09 million with promises of employment in the UK, while the man collected Rs2.4 million from 11 victims, claiming to arrange jobs in Dubai. Both had gone out of contact after receiving the payments.
Acting on complaints from the victims, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, apprehended the woman from New Road and the man from Boudha in Kathmandu.
The accused have been handed over to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal proceedings.
