With 1,024 new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 768,295
The Health Ministry reports 9 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Saturday reported 1,024 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 768,295.
Similarly, 244 people tested positive in a total of 3,122 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Saturday, 3,952,942 PCR and 484,943 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,753 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 9 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,818. The number of active cases stands at 31,826.
According to the ministry, 725,651 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 2,195 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 386 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 289 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 53 in Lalitpur and 44 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 210 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 10 in Province 2, 464 in Bagmati, 193 in Gandaki, 76 in Lumbini, 37 in Karnali and 34 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 19 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 20 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Saturday, 554 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 172—39 in Province 1, 111 in Bagmati, five in Gandaki, eight in Lumbini, two in Karnali and seven in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 1,357 Covid-19 cases and 23 fatalities. Similarly, 1,619 Covid-19 cases and 16 fatalities were recorded on Thursday and 1,648 Covid-19 cases and 20 fatalities were reported on Wednesday.
