With 2,763 new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 728,532

Nepal on Friday reported 2,763 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 728,532.
Similarly, 1,152 people tested positive in a total of 6,874 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Friday, 3,740,817 PCR and 386,929 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 11,708 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 27 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,239. The number of active cases stands at 38,798.
According to the ministry, 679,495 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 2,118 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,089 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 799 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 128 in Lalitpur and 162 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 462 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 25 in Province 2, 1,497 in Bagmati, 542 in Gandaki, 160 in Lumbini, 49 in Karnali and 28 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 20 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 17 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Friday, 736 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 186—56 in Province 1, 105 in Bagmati, seven in Gandaki, 11 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and five in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 2,473 new coronavirus cases and 32 new deaths. Similarly, 2,616 new coronavirus cases and 30 new deaths were recorded on Wednesday and 3,194 new coronavirus cases and 35 new deaths were reported on Tuesday.
