With 8,046 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 447,704
The Health Ministry reports 187 new deaths including figures from past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Saturday reported 8,046 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 447,704.
Similarly, 121 people tested positive in a total of 577 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 187 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 4,856. The number of active cases stands at 109,740.
The positivity rate was 45 percent on Friday. It was 52 on Monday, a record.
According to the ministry, 333,108 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 5,455 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 2,788 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 2,146 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 444 in Lalitpur and 198 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 695 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 474 in Province 2, 3,474 in Bagmati, 586 in Gandaki, 1,785 in Lumbini, 290 in Karnali and 742 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 35 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 19 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
As of Saturday, 2,751,481 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 17,971 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
On Saturday, 1,331 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 370—54 in Province 1, 48 in Province 2, 219 in Bagmati, 20 in Gandaki, 11 in Lumbini, eight in Karnali and 10 in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 8,467 new cases and 203 Covid-19 related fatalities. Similarly, 8,842 new cases and 214 Covid-19 related fatalities were recorded on Thursday and 9,238 new cases and 168 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded on Wednesday.
