National Covid-19 tally reaches 271,118 with 159 new infections

Nepal did not record any Covid-19-related deaths in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Monday.
The country has recorded 2,029 deaths due to Covid-19 so far. The ministry had reported two deaths due to complications caused by the coronavirus disease on Sunday, two on Saturday and five on Friday. The country had reported zero Covid-19-related deaths on Thursday.
In the past 24 hours, the ministry said, the country reported 159 new coronavirus infections, pushing the overall infection number to 271,118.
As of Monday, the active case count stands at 2,489, with Kathmandu leading the number of active infected cases at more than 500. While, Bhojpur, Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, five new infections were reported in Province 1, two in Province 2 and 113 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces reported 30 and nine cases respectively. Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces did not report any new Covid-19 cases today.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 85 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 70 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 10 in Lalitpur and five in Bhaktapur. Kathmandu Valley has registered 126,769 Covid-19 cases so far.
While Kathmandu has reported 499 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 160 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 998 individuals from Bagmati Province, 285 from Lumbini Province, 226 from Province 1, 219 from Province 2, 209 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Monday, 2,075,152 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 4,145 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
Until Monday, 128 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 22 others—11 in Bagmati Province, seven in Gandaki, three in Lumbini and one in Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Sunday reported two more Covid-19 deaths and 105 new cases. Similarly, two deaths and 109 new cases were reported on Saturday and five Covid-19-related fatalities and 157 new cases were recorded in the country on Friday.
