Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,959 with five more deaths; national tally reaches 267,322 with 266 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported five more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,959. The country also recorded 266 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 267,322 with 3,919 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 261,444 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 400 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 177 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 145 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 23 in Lalitpur and nine in Bhaktapur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 124,798. While Kathmandu has reported 487 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 156 and 113 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 973 individuals from Bagmati Province, 257 from Lumbini Province, 224 from Province 1, 218 from Province 2, 195 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 2,012,452 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,508 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, four new infections were reported in Province 1, one in Province 2, and 199 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 26, 34 and two cases respectively. Karnali Province did not report any cases today.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Nawalparasi (East), Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 157 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 39 others—22 in Bagmati Province, seven each in Gandaki and Lumbini, two in Sudurpaschim and one in Province 1—are on ventilator support.
