Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,948 with five more deaths; national tally reaches 266,816 with 270 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported five more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,948. The country also recorded 270 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 266,816 with 4,301 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 260,567 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 390 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 172 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 144 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 22 in Lalitpur and six in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 124,490. While Kathmandu has reported 487 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 153 and 113 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 970 individuals from Bagmati Province, 251 from Lumbini Province, 224 from Province 1, 217 from Province 2, 195 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 26 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 2,005,125 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,084 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, three new infections were reported each in Province 1 and Province 2, and 195 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 28, 37, one and three cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Kalikot, Mugu and Rukum (West) districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 165 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 38 others—20 in Bagmati Province, nine in Gandaki, seven in Lumbini, and one each in Province 1 and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported six Covid-19-related deaths and 403 new infections. Similarly, five deaths and 445 new cases were recorded in the country on Wednesday and five deaths and 430 new cases on Tuesday.
