Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,937 with five more deaths; national tally reaches 266,143 with 445 new infections

Nepal on Wednesday reported five more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,937. The country also recorded 445 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 266,143 with 4,434 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 259,772 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 414 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 246 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 189 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 38 in Lalitpur and 19 in Bhaktapur.
As of Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 124,103. While Kathmandu has reported 483 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 152 and 111 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 963 individuals from Bagmati Province, 251 from Lumbini Province, 222 from Province 1, 216 from Province 2, 194 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 26 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Wednesday, 1,997,009 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 4,154 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 22 new infections were reported in Province 1, 22 in Province 2 and 275 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 38, 66, one and 11 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Taplejung, Kalikot, Mugu, Rukum (West) and Bajura districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 144 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 35 others—20 in Bagmati Province, seven in Lumbini, six in Gandaki and one each in Province 1 and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported five Covid-19-related deaths and 430 new cases. Similarly 10 Covid-19-related fatalities and 488 new cases were reported on Monday and five Covid-19-related deaths and 259 new infections were recorded on Sunday.
