Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,917 with five more deaths; national tally reaches 264,780 with 259 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported five more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,917. The country also recorded 259 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 264,780 with 4,422 active cases.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 126 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 99 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 18 in Lalitpur and nine in Bhaktapur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 123,284. While Kathmandu has reported 480 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 152 and 110 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 958 individuals from Bagmati Province, 245 from Lumbini Province, 218 from Province 1, 216 from Province 2, 192 from Gandaki Province, 63 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 1,982,246 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 4,286 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 17 new infections were reported in Province 1, five in Province 2 and 141 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 23, 39, three and 31 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Taplejung, Solukhumbu and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 191 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 44 others—26 in Bagmati Province, nine each in Gandaki, six in Lumbini, two in Sudurpaschim, and one on Province 1—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported three Covid-19-relateed deaths and 362 new infections. Similarly, six deaths and 554 new infections were recorded in the country on Friday and four deaths and 412 new infections on Thursday.
