Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,832 with seven more deaths; national tally reaches 258,840 with 659 new infections

Nepal on Monday reported seven more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,832. The country also recorded 659 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 258,840 with 6,427 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 250,581 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 718 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 278 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 207 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 49 in Lalitpur and 22 in Bhaktapur.
As of Monday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 120,381. While Kathmandu has reported 466 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 145 and 98 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 910 individuals from Bagmati Province, 229 from Lumbini Province, 215 from Province 1, 211 from Province 2, 184 from Gandaki Province, 58 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Monday, 1,915,232 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,578 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 66 new infections were reported in Province 1, five in Province 2, and 343 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 55, 66, 24 and 100 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Mugu and Rukum (West) do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 254 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 40 others—21 in Bagmati Province, eight in Lumbini, four in Gandaki, three in Province 1, two in Province 2 and one each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Sunday reported six more Covid-19-related deaths and 481 new cases. The country on Saturday had reported three Covid-19 related deaths and 500 new infections. Similarly, eight deaths and 608 new infections were recorded in the country on Friday and five deaths and 613 new cases on Thursday.
