Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,479 with 25 more deaths; national tally reaches 231,978 with 1,255 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported 25 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,479. The country also recorded 1,255 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 231,978 with 17,909 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,404 infected people have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 548 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 422 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 65 in Bhaktapur and 61 in Lalitpur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 108,317. While Kathmandu has reported 362 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 110 and 90 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 737 individuals from Bagmati Province, 200 from Lumbini Province, 195 from Province 2, 189 from Province 1, 98 from Gandaki Province, 37 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 23 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 1,727,836 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 8,008 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 181 new infections were reported in Province 1, 40 in Province 2, and 623 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 164, 99 and 148 cases respectively. Karnali Province did not report any new cases.
Seven districts—Jhapa, Morang, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kaski and Rupandehi—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Dolpa districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 361 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 54 others—31 in Bagmati Province, 10 in Gandaki, sven in Province 1, three in Lumbini Province, and one each in Province 2 and Sudurpaschim Province—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported 19 more Covid-19-related fatalities and 1,380 new cases. On Friday, the country had reported 23 more Covid-19-related fatalities and 1,703 new cases compared to 23 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,614 new infections on Thursday and 28 deaths and 1,948 new infections on Wednesday.
