Nawalparasi East
Traffic on the East-West Highway at Daunne in Nawalparasi East came to a standstill Tuesday morning after a vehicle became stuck near the Bishwakarma Temple uphill section amid persistent rainfall.
Police reported continuous rain had made the road slippery, halting all movement. Despite gravel being laid on Monday at the site where the highway collapsed near an under-construction bridge adjacent to the temple, traffic has yet to return to normal.
Drivers said they could not move vehicles trapped in the mud, causing the blockage. Police confirmed they will attempt to reopen the road by adding more gravel once the rain subsides.
The Daunne section is prone to frequent traffic disruptions, even during light rainfall.
