A 35-year-old woman died and two others were injured after a motorcycle hit pedestrians on an inner road in Hupsikot Rural Municipality, police said.

According to the District Police Office, a motorcycle, heading towards Basantpur from Giruwari, struck two women pedestrians, killing Shobha Sigdel, 35, on the spot.

Another pedestrian, Indira Koirala, 35, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a medical college in Chitwan.

Police identified the rider as Nishan Singh Thakuri of ward 2. He was also injured in the crash and was taken to a local medical facility before being taken into custody.

Madhav Nepal, the district police spokesperson, said Thakuri was riding under the influence of alcohol and did not have the required vehicle documents.
