A 16-year-old boy died after a motorcycle crashed into a truck while overtaking along the Siddhartha Highway in Syangja on Sunday night.

The incident occurred around 8:30pm at Dumraskot, ward 8 of Waling Municipality, when a motorcycle attempted to overtake a truck travelling in the same direction from Waling Mode to Bhakunde and collided with it.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Prasad Paudel of the District Police Office, Syangja, said the pillion rider, Sushil Gurung, 16, of Biruwa Rural Municipality-7, who had been living in Waling-9, died during treatment at a local health centre.

Police have detained the truck driver, Diwakar Lamichhane, 39, of Kushma Municipality-12, and the motorcycle rider, Hemant Rana, 17, of Waling-8, for investigation.
