Sankata Club defeated Armed Police Force (APF) Club 2-0 to reach their first ever final of the Aaha-Rara Gold Cup football on Wednesday.
Sankata, who stunned defending champions and six-time winners Manang Marshyangdi Club in the quarter-final, took the lead in the 33rd through Subash Gurung.
Gurung headed Neraj Basnet's long free kick into the penalty area looking for Glory. As Glory lost possession over the ball, Gurung quickly took the matter into his own hands and smashed a low shot past four APF defenders and goalkeeper Raju Nagarkoti.
Glory then put the game to bed in the dying minute after he was set up by substitute Asis Rai. Glory had another chance to double his tally and extend his team's lead seconds later when Roshan Pahari beat the advancing goalie Nagarkoti inside the six yard box and set up the forward before the empty post but he flashed wide.
Sankata will face the winners between African Root Association and Nepal Police Club in the final on Saturday. African Root and Police will meet each other in the second semi-final on Thursday.
African Root had defeated 'A' Division champions Machhindra Club while Police had thrashed Three Star Club in their respective quarter-finals.
