Having explored various themes in the past—like ‘Managing People during Crisis’, ‘Employee Care for Higher Productivity’ and ‘HR for Tomorrow, Trends and Transformation’—this year’s conference is set to be themed ‘Unleash HR for National Development’.
Human Resources Society Nepal (HRSN), an umbrella organisation for HR professionals in Nepal, is set to organise the seventh iteration of the National HR Conference on August 24 this year. Having explored various themes in the past—like ‘Managing People during Crisis’, ‘Employee Care for Higher Productivity’ and ‘HR for Tomorrow, Trends and Transformation’—this year’s conference is set to be themed ‘Unleash HR for National Development’.
Speaking to the Post, Mohan Ojha, President of the HR Society said, “In the past we have had conferences limited to organisation and employee benefits but this time we want to take the conference to a national level where we can effect change in policies.” He added, “The country is going through a tremendous transformation and this conference aims to reflect on how HR solutions can help aid that transformation.”
“This year, we want to work towards different aspects of HR, specifically at the governmental level,” said Madhu Paudel, Vice-President of HR Society. Paudel mentioned that if HR management is recognised at the national level, it could be the best possible way to increase investment on human resource development at an organisational level as well.
The seventh iteration of National HR Conference will have two international keynote speakers, national speakers and several panel discussions. The international speakers include RL Bhatia who is a change management and an organisation turnaround specialist. He has experience with several organisations such as Ernst & Young, Standard Chartered Bank and Tata Exports. Bhatia will be sharing his views on the importance of HR management in national development during the conference. The other speaker is Abhijit Bhaduri, who is the advisor to the executive doctoral programme of Wharton Business School in the US.
The confirmed Nepali speakers for the conference are Ashutosh Tiwari and Dr Dilli Ram Khanal.
Speaking about the event, Kumar Joshi, former president of the HR Society said, “The annual conference has come a long way since its inception, I hope this year’s hard-hitting theme will propel it to even greater heights.”
The HR National Conference will take place at Soaltee Crowne Plaza on August 24. The participation fee for HR Society members is Rs 6,500 and Rs 7,500 for non-members.
