Australia’s D’Arcy Short will be playing for Lumbini Lions in the second edition of the Nepal Premier League, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The 35-year-old is an experienced left-handed batsman, having represented Australia’s senior national team in eight ODIs and 23 T20Is. He debuted for the Aussies in the shortest format against New Zealand on February 3, 2018, and against England in one-day on June 16, 2018. His last senior matches in the two formats were in 2020.
Short also has experience of playing in the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals in 2018. He has been a consistent performer in the Big Bash League since the 2016/17 season, alongside playing in the Vitality Blast. In 102 BBL matches, Short has scored 3,138 runs, with two centuries and 23 half-centuries.
Lumbini Lions, who finished at the bottom of the table in the first season with only one win in seven matches, are likely to have Short open for them and strengthen their batting order in the second season that kicks off on November 17.
