The auction of domestic players for the second season of the Nepal Premier League will take place on August 9, the Cricket Association of Nepal announced on Saturday.
According to the governing body of cricket in Nepal, 458 Nepali cricketers have registered themselves for the auction. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had called interested players for registrations on July 12, with the deadline on July 22.
“The details of the registered players have been made available to the eight franchises,” CAN said in a press statement. “The auction will see players based on the standards set by the technical committee of CAN and the wishlist of the franchises.”
The final list of the players who will make it to the auction will be announced later, CAN stated. With the list, CAN is also expected to announce the new rate of players based on their categories, as it might change compared to the inaugural edition.
Meanwhile, regarding foreign players, the franchises will have full authority. Speaking at the new logo unveiling ceremony of Kathmandu Gorkhas on Thursday, CAN secretary Paras Khadka said, “There is no auction for foreign players. We expect the franchises to bring in big stars to the NPL.”
