Quality Kathmandu Schools (QKS), an umbrella body of 25 schools of Kathmandu, on Tuesday, announced the inaugural edition of a T10 cricket tournament to be held in November.
“The eight-day tournament starting on November 20 will see 16 schools competing in a league-cum-knockout format,” the organisers said in a press conference.
The event will be hosted at the Dhumbarahi-based cricket ground of Pakistan Embassy.
“Cricket is now a popular sport in the country with opportunities to pursue a career in it,” said Dilip Rana, president of QKS. “The inaugural tournament aims to provide exposure to the new generation of cricket enthusiasts.”
The participating teams will be fielding students up to grade 10 with a mixed team of boys and girls. “Girls are no less capable than the boys,” Rana said.
