Defending champions Armed Police Force clinched the title of Prime Minister Cup Women’s National Cricket Tournament for a seventh time with a commanding nine-wicket victory over Sudurpaschim Province at the Fapla International Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi on Saturday.
Chasing a modest target of 68 runs, APF cruised to 69-1 in just 12.5 overs.
Mamta Chaudhary starred with an unbeaten 43 off 43 balls, while skipper Indu Barma, who also captains the national women’s cricket team, provided a solid support with 18 not out off 20 deliveries.
APF’s triumph also marked their unbeaten run throughout the tournament.
Earlier, former champions Sudurpaschim elected to bat first and were restricted to 67 all out in 18.1 overs. Kabita Joshi led APF’s bowling attack with 3-18 from her four overs, while Barma and Sabnam Rai pocketed two wickets each.
Manisha Bohara top scored for Sudurpaschim with 18 not out off 23 balls. Bindu Rawal contributed 17 off 24 deliveries but the rest of the batting line up failed to score in double digits.
