After a day break, the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket resumes Tuesday, with a doubleheader in the first match of the day between Lumbini Lions and Chitwan Rhinos while the second game of the day will see Karnali Yaks take on Pokhara Avengers.
In the first match of the day, Lumbini with a chance to break their losing streak pit against the Rhinos at 9 am. With four losses in all four games, Lumbini is at the bottom of the table. Rhinos with three wins in four-match stand third at the points table.
Led by Nepal’s national team captain Rohit Paudel, Lumbini, regarded as a strong contender before the tournament with the defeats in all four of their initial matches is on the brink of elimination from the playoff race. While Chitwan Rhinos, initially viewed as one of the weakest teams have won three out of their four matches. A win against Lumbini would bolster Chitwan’s playoff chances, while a loss would officially knock Lumbini out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Karnali Yaks will play their first match without Indian star batter Shikhar Dhawan at 1 pm. Yaks having lost their first two matches, bounced back with victories in their next two and stand at the 4th on the table. Pokhara Avengers, on the other hand, winning one of the total three matches stand 5th on the points table. To keep their playoff hopes alive, Pokhara must secure a win against Karnali in this crucial encounter.
