The Cricket Association of Nepal has suspended national women cricketer Apsari Begam.
A central work execution committee meeting of the national cricket governing body held on Thursday decided to suspend Begam and assign the responsibility of further investigation to its disciplinary committee.
The cricketer is accused of misbehaving with the team manager and coach during an ongoing closed training camp in Kathmandu for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, which will be held in Sri Lanka from July 19 to July 28.
“It has been decided to immediately suspend the player from the training camp and assign the responsibility of further investigation and necessary actions to the disciplinary committee in light of this serious violation of the code of conduct,” CAN said in a statement on Friday.
Meanwhile, CAN has decided to seek an explanation from four people, including Vice President Roshan Kumar Singh.
It has also asked central members Madhav Kumar Karmacharya, Durga Raj Pathak and Sunsari District Cricket Association President Chetnath Paudel to explain why they made negative comments targeting the association and officials during their participation in the T20 World Cup.
The meeting also decided to hold the Nepal Premier League in November/December.
