Blue Bird clinch Apex ICC Cup title
Champions Blue Bird walked home with Rs150,000 while runners-up Phoenix received Rs75,000.Sports Bureau
Blue Bird College won the Apex ICC Cup inter-college T20 cricket tournament after they defeated Phoenix College by six wickets in a low-scoring final at the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Bipin Acharya took four wickets and Avinash Basyal, who had taken a fifer in the semi-finals, again wreaked havoc with his 2-15 to help Blue Bird bowl out Phoenix, who had opted to bat first, for just 62 runs. Subash Khatri also pocketed a wicket for Blue Bird.
Phoenix’s Sushant Singh Thapa top-scored with 18 off 38 balls. Rabindra Bhusal scored 12 off 5 balls and Raj Kumar Shah contributed 14-ball 11.
With the title already in sight, Blue Bird’s Prabhat Hangkhim played an unbeaten knock of 57-ball 31 to chase down the target in 17.2 overs at the loss of four wickets.
Samir Bist took two wickets for Phoenix, while Krish Ayer and Raj Kumar picked one wicket apiece.

Phoenix’s Krish Aayer was declared the best player of the tournament and the best bowler. Xavier International College’s Rupesh Basyal won the best batter award.
