Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichhane and allrounder Dipendra Singh Airee will both feature in the third season of the Global T20 Canada, which is scheduled to take place from July 20 to August 6.
Lamichhane will play for Surrey Jaguars, while Airee was picked by Montreal Tigers during a player draft held on Tuesday.
Lamichhane, a regular at the Global T20, played for Montreal in the inaugural edition in 2018. He was selected by Toronto Nationals in the 2019 edition.
Airee will be playing a foreign league for the first time. He will be the third Nepali cricketer to play the Global T20 Canada and the sixth Nepali international to play a foreign league.
The Canadian league is returning to Brampton, Ontario after a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19 pandemic. Toronto, Brampton Wolves, Montreal, Vancouver Knights and two newcomers—Surrey Jaguars and Mississauga Panthers—will compete in the league.
Lamichhane and Airee are currently with the national team in Zimbabwe to participate in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier set to take place from June 18 to July 9. Nepal, pitted alongside Zimbabwe, West Indies, the United States and the Netherlands in Group A, will play against the hosts in the inaugural match.
