Janakpur Royals on Sunday signed fast bowler Kesrick Williams as their overseas player for the Nepal T20 league, the country’s first ever official Twenty20 league set to take place from December 23 to January 10, 2023.
An experienced campaigner in the global T20 circuit, Williams rose to prominence when he took 17 wickets for Jamaica Tallawahs in the 2016 Caribbean Premier League to become the third-highest wicket-taker of the edition.
“I am happy to be a part of the Janakpur Royals in this year’s NepalT20. I will bring some Caribbean flavour to help bring home the championship,” Williams said in a press release issued by Janakpur.
He made his debut for the West Indies on September 27 that year (2016) in a T20I match against Pakistan. He has taken 41 T20I wickets and nine ODI wickets since. He last played for the national side in November 2020.
“I am excited to announce the signing of Kesrick Williams as a foreign player for the upcoming season. His vast global experience and unique notebook celebration will endear him to the fans of Janakpur Royals,” said Janakpur team owner Govind Khandelwal.
Janakpur also signed West Indies batter and wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton on Saturday.
