APF pull off second win, Lumbini edge Mayor’s XI

Nepal APF Sports Club edged Sudurpaschim Province by six wickets to register second win in a row while a hat-trick from Nary Thapa inspired Lumbini to a two-run win over Lalitpur Mayor's XI in the Lalitpur Mayor Women's Twenty20 Championship at the TU grounds, Kirtipur, on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Sudurpaschim were bowled out for 89 runs before APF reached 90-4 in 16.5 overs. APF have four points winning both the matches played while Sudurpaschim have two points winning one and losing another.
Kabita Kunwar contributed 18 runs, the highest of the innings for Sudurpaschim, before she was bowled by captain Sita Rana Magar. Dolly Bhatta and opener Bindu Rawal were the only other batters to reach double digits for Sudurpaschim contributing equal 11 runs each.
APF bowler Sonu Khadka claimed three wickets in her four-over bowling. The player-of-the-match conceded 14 runs. Captain Rana Magar and Karuna Bhandari grabbed two wickets each.
Chasing the target, Roma Thapa and Manta Chaudhary shared an unbeaten fifth wicket stand of 43 runs. Thapa contributed 29-ball 23 comprising three fences while Chaudhary hit 14 off 19 that included two boundaries. Opener Jyoti Pandey garnered 11 runs and Indu Barma collected 10 runs.
Sudurpaschim bowler Ishwori Bist picked two wickets in her four-over bowling giving away 13 runs.
In the late fixture, veteran Nary Thapa grabbed four crucial wickets including a last over hat-trick for Lumbini as they restricted hosts Mayor's XI at 92-9 in their chase of 95 runs.
Batting first, Lumbini rode on captain Saraswati Ganga Magar's 31 off 47 to score 94-4 at close after they lost openers duo Laxmi Chaudhary and Nitu Bhandari with just 11 runs on board. Ganga Magar hit two boundaries before being bowled by Suman Khatiwada. Saraswati Pun contributed 20 off 27 while Thapa hit 22-ball 15 for Lumbini who were also rewarded with 22 extra runs.
Khatiwada of Mayor's XI grabbed three wickets in her four-over bowling giving away 15 runs. Shila Chhetri picked another wicket.
In the run chase, Mayor's XI put up a disastrous performance with the bat despite making a decent start. They lost the last five wickets adding just eight runs on board as they reached 9-89 from 5-81. While Mayor's XI required seven runs from the last over, Thapa dismissed Khushi Dangol in the second delivery of the last over, and Shila Chhetri and Alisha Yadav in the next two balls to restrict them for 92 runs.
Mayor's XI opener Kanchan Shrestha contributed 36-ball 22 while Asmina Karmacharya remained unbeaten on 20 off 21. Sana Prabin scored 12 runs and Khatiwada 11 runs.
The-player-of-the-match Thapa gave away eight runs in her four-over spell that included a maiden over. Kritika Marasini pocketed three wickets and Sushmita Bhusal collected two.
With the first victory in the first match, Lumbini collected two points while Mayor's XI are winless after two matches.
