Second win helps APF secure semi-final spot

Nepal APF Club registered a thumping 89-run win over Sudhurpaschim Province to register their second victory and stormed into the semi-final of the Prime Minister Cup Women's National Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at the Fapla Ground in Dhangadhi on Wednesday.
Put to bat first, AFP posted 128-7 after a collective batting effort. In bowling, Karnua Bhandari grabbed four wickets as the departmental team bundled out Sudhurpaschim for a meager total of 39 runs in 14 overs.
In another match, Province 2 kept afloat their semi-final hopes with a seven-wicket victory over Gandaki Province sending the latter crashing out with a match in hand. Batting first, Gandaki were bowled out for a meager total of 39 runs in 17.1 overs. In the run chase, Province 2 surpassed the target in 10.3 overs.
With their second win from as many matches played in Group 'B', APF earned four points and booked a semi-final berth with a match in hand. With their first victory after the second match, Province 2 opened accounts in the points table and came level on two points with Sudhurpaschim Province, who have also played equal two matches.
The winner of the third group match between Province 2 and Sudurpaschim Province to take place on Thursday will qualify for the semi-final. APF will take on Gandaki Province in the last group match.
APF's opener Indu Barma scored 33 runs off 31, the highest score of the match, against Sudurpaschim. She hit five fences. Rajmati Airee contributed 18-ball 19 and Sarita Magar 16-ball 18. Roma Thapa contributed 16 off 21 and Mamta Chaudhary played a quickfire 14 off 9.
Sudurpaschim bowler Ritu Kanoujiya grabbed three wickets in her four-over spell conceding 18 runs. Kabita Joshi and Deep Jora picked two wickets each.
Chasing the target, Sudurpaschim batters Rubi Poddar and captain Kanoujiya were the only players to touch double digit figures. Opener Poddar and Kanoujiya both scored equal 10 runs while other batters were out cheaply.
APF's Bhandari was the most successful bowler giving away seven runs in her four-over spell including a maiden over. She was named player-of-the-match.
In the other fixture, Gandaki's Anjali Bishowkarma was the only batter to reach a double digit figure. She hit 15 off 37 before being bowled by Anuradha Chaudhary.
Province No 2 bowler Santoshi Chaudhary was the pick of the bowling lineup claiming three wickets. She gave away two runs in her three-over bowling with two maiden overs. Anuradha Chaudhary pocketed two wickets.
In the run chase, openers Anuradha Chaudhary and Sana Prabin made light work of Gandaki. Anuradha scored 12 runs and Prabin 13 runs. Melina Rayamajhi remained not out on five runs and Bimala Magar unbeaten on two runs.
Province No 1 and Lumbini Province have already booked semi-final spots from Group 'A'.
