Sudurpaschim, APF triumph

Nepal APF Sports Club and Sudurpaschim Province made winning starts in the Prime Minister Cup Women's National Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at the Fapla Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi on Monday.
APF registered a 48-run victory over Province 2 while Sudurpaschim thumped Gandaki Province by nine wickets in Group 'B' match.
Put into bat first, APF scored 98-8 in the match played reduced to 15-over per side due to heavy fog and less visibility. In the run chase, Province 2 managed to score 50-9 at close.
APF's openers Indu Barma scored 21 runs off 23 and Jyoti Pandey scored 24 runs off 24, the highest of the innings. Roma Thapa and Mamata Chaudhary were the other batters to contribute in double digits scoring 14 runs and 11 runs respectively.
Province 2 bowler Bimala Magar grabbed three wickets in her three-over spell conceding 14 runs.
In the run chase, Melina Rayamajhi was the only Province 2 batter to score in double digits as they lost other players cheaply. Rayamajhi scored 20 off 23 before she was caught by Karuna Bhandari off Sushma Shrestha.
APF bowler Shrestha claimed two scalps in her three-over bowling giving away 12 runs.
In another match, batting first Gandaki were bowled out for a meager total of 31 runs in 18 overs. None of the Gandaki batters managed to touch double digits. Pemlambu Sherpa was the highest scorer with six runs under her belt.
Sudhurpaschim bowlers Deepa Joora and Kabita Joshi claimed two wickets apiece.
In the run chase, openers Kabita Joshi scored eight runs and Shova Rokaya five runs for Sudhurpaschim as they achieved the target in 2.1 overs for the loss of one wicket. Sudhurpaschim were also gifted extra 19 runs.
Province No 1 and Lumbini Province have already secured semi-final spots from Group 'A'.
