APF pass group stage with cent percent win

Armed Police Force (APF) Club wrapped up the group stage with cent percent winning streak while the national captain Rubina Chhetri-led Province 1 bowed out of the campaign with victory in the Lalitpur Mayor's Cup Women Championship twenty20 cricket at the TU cricket grounds in Kirtipur on Thursday.
APF, assured of a final spot with a match in hand along with Sudurpaschim Province, edged Lumbini Province by 40 runs. Province 1 saw off Lalitpur Mayor's XI by 15 runs in the dead rubber match.
APF topped the group with maximum eight points winning all four matches and will vie against Sudurpaschim Province, who finished runners-up with six points, in the title clash on Saturday.
Province 1 finished third with four points winning two matches. Mayor's XI were fourth with two points after pulling off only one win. Winless Lumbini Province remained at the bottom in the five-team contest. The top two teams advanced into the final.
Electing to bat first, APF posted 142-6 at close and restricted Lumbini at 102-2. APF batter Mamta Chaudhary, also the player of the match, scored the highest 47 runs off 48. Captain Sita Rana Magar played a quickfire knock of 28 runs from 18 deliveries. Opener Rajmati Airee was the other major scorer for the departmental team scoring 23 runs off 30.
Lumbini bowlers Sawatika Bajgai and Kritika Marasini pocketed two wickets apiece.
In the run chase, Lumbini opener Nitu Bhandari scored 17 runs off 27 deliveries before she was sent to the pavilion. Another opener, Laxmi Chaudhary scored 35 runs off 37 deliveries. Saraswati Ganga Magar remained unbeaten on 21 runs off 37 balls and captain Nary Thapa not out scored 27 runs off 19 deliveries.
In another match, Roma Thapa and Apsari Begam played an unbeaten 75-run partnership for the third wicket as Province 1 posted 128-2 before restricting Mayor's XI at 113-7.
Thapa scored 66 runs in her 57-ball knock that included 10 boundaries. Begam contributed 26 off 29. Captain Rubina Chhetri scored 21 runs.
Mayor's XI bowlers Santoshi Chaudhary and Saraswati Chaudhary pocketed one wicket each.
Mayor's XI opener Anuradha Chaudhary led the run chase scoring 28. Suman Khatiwada was the next best scorer hitting 27 off 26 balls. Captain Saraswati was not out for 17 runs.
Province 1 captain Chhetri grabbed three wickets in her four-over bowling giving away 18 runs. She was named player of the match.
