Singha Durbarko Tender at Theatre Village
Theatre Village, Lazimpat, is currently hosting a drama titled SinghaDurbarko Tender, directed by Dilip Ranabhat. The play revolves around the story of one Sarkaar—played by Sujan Oli—and his dreams. The story explores the nexus between corrupt politicians and how backed poor administration and unstable politics exacerbate the problem. It also sheds light on how politicians derive benefits in the name of development projects that take forever to complete.
“When I read Ajay Shukla’s Taj Mahalka Tender, it left a mark on me and I knew I wanted to do a play based on the issue. I’ve tried not to change Shukla’s words and yet stay true to Nepali realities,” said Ranabhat. “This is my debut as a director and I hope the audience likes it,” he added.
The play features 12 actors with the likes of Sangit Sapkota, Bholaraj Sapkota, Sujan Oli, Gopal Aryal, Rishabh KC, among others, making up the cast. It was first performed on April 23, but subsequent shows had to be postponed due to the Great Quake.
The play is on till July 7 and will be performed every day at 5:30 pm
