Alital lake, a site of significant tourism potential in Dadeldhura, has begun attracting renewed attention in recent years following increased efforts in conservation, management and infrastructure development.
Located in Alital Rural Municipality-3, the lake is known for its natural beauty, tranquil surroundings and rich biodiversity. The active initiatives taken by the rural municipality have contributed to a steady rise in visitor numbers. The municipality itself is named after the lake.

Situated at an elevation of around 800 metres in the foothills of the Mahabharat range, Alital Lake stretches approximately 1,175 metres in length and around 400 metres in width. It lies within the Rangun watershed, which forms part of the Siwalik range in the Mahakali River basin.
Authorities say continued conservation work will be key to unlocking the lake’s long-term tourism potential while preserving its ecological value.
