The Pokhara Tourism Council on Saturday organised the second Daain Festival at Churunga in Pokhara Metropolitan City–19, presenting a traditional agricultural practice that is rapidly vanishing with the rise of mechanised farming.
The festival was held to acquaint young people and visitors with daain—a post-harvest activity in which multiple bullocks are tied in a row and made to walk in circles around a bamboo or wooden pole, trampling rice straw to separate the remaining grains and prepare the hay for future use.

Organisers said the age-old method, once a central part of Nepal’s rural agrarian cycle, has declined sharply due to the widespread adoption of threshers and other farm machinery. The event sought to preserve unique cultural memory while creating an experiential attraction for tourists.
