Monarchists organise rallies to welcome former king Gyanendra in Kathmandu
Traffic was disrupted as crowds gathered to welcome former monarch at airport.
Post Report
Rallies have been organised across Kathmandu to welcome former king Gyanendra Shah who arrived in the capital city from Pokhara on Sunday afternoon.
Supporters from Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, and members of other pro-monarchy organisations joined the processions. RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden and RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa, among other senior leaders, also participated in welcoming the former monarch at the domestic airport in Kathmandu.
Gyanendra returned to Kathmandu from the tourist city in a chartered flight. He recently visited the Alamdevi Temple in Syangja, the ancestral shrine of the Shah dynasty, and was staying in Pokhara for several days.

The rallies caused traffic disruption in Kathmandu, particularly along the route from the airport to Maharajgunj. Some vehicles, including ambulances, faced delays, while passengers had to walk to access the airport.
