Nepal Premier League trophy unveiled on Dharahara premises

The Nepal Premier League (NPL) trophy was unveiled on Monday on the Dharahara premises in Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and marquee players from the eight participating teams unveiled the trophy.
During the event, Prime Minister Oli remarked that the day marked a significant milestone for Nepali cricket.
The trophy features a stone brought from Kalapaththar. Kalapaththar is a renowned viewpoint near Mount Everest in the Solukhumbu that lies at an altitude of 5,545 metres.
The Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur is undergoing significant upgrades in preparation for the NPL. The improvements include a revamped outfield, the installation of a digital scoreboard, and new sight screens. Practice pitches have also been added, and the boundary has been expanded.
The first edition of the franchise-based tournament, which will take place from November 30 to December 21, will feature eight teams. These squads represent various provinces, with two teams from Bagmati Province and one from other regions.
The competing teams include Kathmandu Gurkhas, Chitwan Rhinos, Biratnagar Kings, Janakpur Bolts, Pokhara Avengers, Lumbini Lions, Karnali Yaks, and Sudurpashchim Royals. The league will see participation of renowned international cricketers, including Shikhar Dhawan, Rohan Mustafa, Ben Cutting, Michael Levit, Saif Zaib, Brandon McMullen, and Unmukt Chand.
