Farmers in the time of lockdown

Post Report
The lockdown enforced since March 24 has brought the country to a standstill.
On Thursday, farmers in Dhading, however, were preparing their fields for paddy and vegetables. Dhading is one of the largest vegetable producing districts in the country and also a chief vegetable supplier to the capital. And with time also ripe for planting (spring paddy), farmers are busy in their fields despite the lockdown imposed by the government.
Some rights activists, civil society leaders and former bureaucrats have called on the government to allow farmers to go back to work in the fields as there is little danger of spreading the coronavirus while working at a distance of five or six feet apart.
