Minister for Physical infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth has said that the detailed project report of the railway line that connects India and China will be completed within a year.
Taking part in the second-day discussion of the Investment Summit in Kathmandu on Saturday, Mahaseth said the detailed project report of both the railway lines will be prepared within a year.
The minister also drew investors’ attention to the prospects of launching cable car and e-vehicle among other transportation infrastructures, as an alternative transportation models in Nepal.
“We don’t have technology in infrastructure development of Nepal,” Mahaseth said. “We want to develop this sector with the support from neighbouring countries.”
The transport minister also urged foreign investors to invest in Nepal’s transportation sector.
Other speakers in the discussion said that since Nepal needed to construct infrastructure in the transport sector, there are ample opportunities to invest in Nepal.
Inaugurating the Nepal Investment Summit 2019 in Kathmandu on Friday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had expressed his commitment to ensure conducive environment for business and protect foreign investment.
The prime minister described Nepal as “almost a virgin land” for investment with every sector profitable as he wooed the prospective foreign investors who have converged in Kathmandu for the two-day mega summit that kicked off on Friday.
