Floods from Seti River enter Dhungad settlement in Baitadi

Floods from Seti River caused by incessant rains have gushed into Dhungad settlement of Sigas Rural Municipality in Baitadi district.
The floods have entered the settlements from either side creating an island where at least 60 people are stranded and waiting to get rescued.
According to Ward No 5 chair Ram Bahadur Dhami, the flood started to enter the settlement of around 150 houses at around 1am on Monday.
“Most of the residents fled before things got worse, however, around 60 people are still stranded in the area and are waiting to be rescued,” said Dhami. “We are yet to receive complete details regarding the situation on the ground.”
District Administration Office information officer Khagendra Baharti said a police team has been deployed to the disaster-affected area. It takes almost seven-eight hours to reach the area on foot.
