Surya Nepal Tour Championship tees off today

Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship, the seventh event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22, will start at Gokarna Golf Club on Monday.
The four-day event to conclude on Thursday will be played over 72 holes, said Nepal Professional Golfers' Association general secretary Deepak Acharya at a press conference on Monday. Cut will be applied after completion of 36 holes. The top 21 pros and ties will be eligible for the final 36 holes along with top six amateurs who survive the pro cut.
Altogether 32 professional golfers will vie in the event that carries a total purse of Rs775,000. The winner will get rich by Rs135000, the runner up will get Rs88,000 and the third place finisher will walk away with Rs65000. The top 21 finishers along with ties will share in the prize money.
Besides pros, 14 amateur golfers will also test their golfing skills in the event. Sukra Bahadur Rai, Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Jayaram Shrestha, Sanjay Lama, Dhana Thapa, Rame Thapa, and Rabi Khadka are among the top pros to feature in the event.
Amateur golfer Subash Tamang, the 13th South Asian Games double-gold medallist, is also expected to throw a tough challenge.
