Church Boys Club of Kathmandu won the Pathivara Gold Cup football tournament with a 3-0 drubbing of Sagarmatha Youth Club of Biratnagar in the final on Monday.
Jangbu Sherpa, Raj Paudel and Raj Kumar Kandangwa netted a goal each for Church Boys. The champions earned Rs 211,111 and the runners-up Sagarmatha got Rs 111,111. Sherpa opened scoring early in the 12th minute before Paudel doubled their tally seven minutes later. Kandangwa made the game secure for Chursh Boys with the third goal in the 49th minute.
Manoj Rai of Sagarmatha was declared the best player of final. Raj Paudel of Church Boys finished as the joint highest scorer with Tirtha Basnet of Sagarmatha with three goals each. Barsat Gurung of the champion team was adjudged the best player of the tournament and received Rs 10,000.
Dipesh Yadav was named the best goalkeeper, Sanjeev Karki the best defender, Jangbu Sherpa the best midfielder, Raju Paudel the best forward and Rubin Rai the best coach. Sunil Nalbo of Nawa Prayas Youth Club, Taplejung, won the emerging player award. Each of the individual award winners earned Rs 5,000.
