Nepal get Iran in U-19 opener
Nepal will meet Iran in their opening encounter of the AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers as the Asian Football Confederation on Friday released the fixtures for the October 2-6 event.Nepal, who are pitted in a tough Group ‘E’, will also meet giants Jordan and Kuwait. After taking on hosts Iran in the opening day, Nepal will meet Kuwait on October 4 before wrapping up their campaign with the match against Jordan one day later.
The U-19 Qualifiers will be played between 43 countries where each 10 group winners along with five second best-placed teams will make it to the Finals to be hosted by Bahrain next year.
In the U-16 Championship Qualifiers slated for September 16-20, Nepal will begin their campaign with the match against Jordan in the inaugural day. Nepal are in Group ‘B’ of the U-16 Qualifiers with Kyrgyzstan hosting the event in Bishkek.
The hosts are up next for Nepal on September 18 before they finish their Group B Qualifiers taking on Oman on September 20.
