SPA posted a mammoth 239-6 in 20 overs. However, two Indian recruits — Subodh Srivastav and Mayank Yadav — gave SPA a day to forget with whirlwind knocks as Sunshine reached 243-3 with five balls to spare.
Opener Shankar Rana, who hit a six in the first ball of Sunshine reply, made his intentions clear making 24 off 18 on his way to share 47 runs for the first wicket in 5.1 overs with Shrivastav. Yadav stepped in and along with his compatriot shared 101-run stand. Srivastav made 87 off 42 with seven boundaries and six sixes. Yadav shared another 38-run partnership with Nischal Chaudhary to push Sunshine total close to 200-run mark. Chaudhary chipped in 32 off 15 with four boundaries and two sixes.
After the departure of Chaudhary, Sunshine needed 54 runs from the last 22 balls but Yadav did the unexpected hitting big shots with ease. Biram Thagunna, Dipendra Airee and Sharad Vesawkar picked up one wicket each for the hosts.
SPA also had a blistering start when Pradeep Airee smashed two sixes and three fours in his 13-ball 26, collecting 45 runs for the first wicket with Subash Khakurel in 4.2 overs. After the run out of Airee, Khakurel and Sharad Vesawkar combined for a 110-run stand. Vesawkar made 47 off 28 with six boundaries and three sixes. SPA, however, lost Shubendu Pandey (duck), Alpes Ramjani (nine) and set batsman Khakurel in a space of 14 runs. Khakurel posted his second half century of the tournament making 77 off 48 balls with seven hits to the fence and five maximum. Skipper Bhuwan Karki (29 off 12) and Dipendra Airee (38 off 10) then made some quick runs to ensure a big SPA total.
