Palpa road mishap death toll reaches five, 10 injured

The death tally of the Palpa jeep accident has reached five.
Thirty-seven-year-old Bijaya Pokharel and a two-year-old child, who had been seriously injured in Sunday’s accident, succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment on Monday, said Police Inspector Heramba Sharma.
The two-year-old’s mother, who was also aboard the ill-fated vehicle, had been pronounced dead on the spot on Sunday.
Five of the 10 injured have been seriously injured. Four of them are receiving treatment at the Bhairahawa-based Medical College while one is being treated at the Chauraha Hospital in Butwal.
The remaining have been admitted to the Lumbini Provincial Hospital.
Three people died and 12 others were injured in a jeep accident at Rainadebi Chhahara Rural Municipality-8 of Palpa district on Sunday.
According to the District Police Office, the jeep heading to Arghakhanchi from Saljhandi swerved off the road and plunged around 70 metres below.
Further investigation into the accident is underway.
