Six out of nine inmates absconding from the detention room of District Police Office Dhanusha were arrested on Monday morning.

The detainees escaped after breaking the ventilation of the west side of the new building of the police office.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Awa, five of the prisoners were apprehended from different places in Dhanusha while they were attempting to cross the Indian border.

“Other prisoners are believed to have hidden around the Lakhauri area. I am in the search operation myself, search is underway” Awa said.

Among the detainees, Ranjit Mandal, Bishal Mukhiya and Manish Mandal are still at large. All the absconding inmates were held by the police on charges related to drugs and indecent behaviour.
